With our own Crafted Sweatshirt range, we wanted to reflect the key features of the earlier styles- but elevate them. But first, we had to put in the research.

Our Crafted Sweatshirts have been through a meticulous design process to label them truly crafted. 

The sweatshirt's roots can be traced back to the early 19th century when athletes & labourers sought comfortable attire to keep them warm during intense physical activities. The first-ever sweatshirt was created during the 1920s, by Russel Athletic, a renowned sportswear brand. Initially, this humble garment was plain & practical, primarily designed to absorb sweat and provide warmth.

As the 20th century progressed, the sweatshirt transcended its original purpose and gained popularity beyond the sports arena. Hollywood played a pivotal role in the transformation, as iconic figures like Gene Kelly and James Dean donned sweatshirts on the silver screen. Suddenly, the sweatshirt became associated with rebellion and youthful nonchalance, sparking a new wave of trends.

Our Crafted Sweatshirts pay homage to the sweatshirt’s rich history- taking key elements such as the v-tapered ribbed cuffs and hem, French Terry Loopback fabric, and the slightly boxy shape while elevating them with contemporary finishes and style. Staying true to the Crafted mantra, we have carefully considered our sweatshirts to provide a refined & relaxed fit that flatters the male silhouette. 

One of the essential elements of our Crafted Sweatshirts is the premium 440 GSM brushed or ‘peached’ French Terry loopback cotton. This carefully chosen material strikes the perfect balance between durability and a soft, luxurious feel. We believe that a sweatshirt should not only look good but also provide a tactile experience.

It’s the finishing touches that really make our Crafted Sweatshirts stand out. Inspired by vintage gym wear, we've incorporated slightly dropped shoulders for a relaxed yet modern look. We've also paid attention to the smallest details, such as the v-stitched overlocked neck and back yoke stitch detailing. These subtle elements elevate our sweatshirts, and create a more unique product.
