Hickory Stripe vs Herringbone
Some fabrics earn their place. Not because they’re reinvented every season, but because they’ve always done the job.
That’s where hickory stripe and herringbone sit in our world of workwear.
We’ve just introduced a new herringbone denim jean, but herringbone isn’t new to us. It’s something we’ve been working with for years through herringbone canvas - a staple in our heritage workwear range and a fabric that’s always felt at home in what we do. This new denim version is just a different expression of the same idea: durability, texture, and fabric that gets better with wear.
Herringbone canvas has always been about structure. The weave gives it that subtle zig-zag character, but it’s not about standing out- it’s about holding up. That’s why it’s been a constant for us. Now, translating that into denim just adds another layer. Same DNA, different execution. The herringbone denim jean carries that same weight and longevity, but with a softer break-in and a more everyday feel.
On the other side, hickory stripe brings a different perspective.
Originally worn in railroad workwear, hickory stripe clothing was built for visibility and function. The bold stripes weren’t decorative- they were practical, designed to hide wear and tell a story through use. That’s still what makes it relevant. Our new hickory stripe pieces stay true to that mindset: straightforward, hard-wearing, and built to be lived in.
Put them together and you’ve got two different expressions of the same philosophy.
Hickory stripe is direct- bold, open, made for impact. Herringbone is quieter- more textured, more considered, but just as tough underneath. One speaks loudly from day one, the other reveals itself over time.
That balance is what defines our workwear range. Nothing overworked, just fabrics with history, reworked in a way that respects where they came from.
It all comes back to the same thing: make it properly, and let it earn its place.
