One Home Forever Fund| Surfers Against Sewage

The Story So Far...

We publicly launched the One Home Forever Fund early in September, however we’ve been building the fund since April- which marks the beginning of our financial year. Each month, for the last 6 months we have added 1% of our monthly revenue bringing it to a total of £47,842.46 (at the time of writing 04.10.24) already this year!

If you have read about our One Home Forever campaign, you will know that we will be distributing 80% of the fund evenly among 3 primary partner charities- all with dedicated Earth-postive initiatives. We want to take the time to tell you why we chose to partner up with these particular organisations. First up, Surfers Against Sewage.

Making Waves...

While we’re based in the Midlands, far from the coast, we all share a love for the British coastlines. They’re a place of escapism for most of the team & we feel strongly about protecting them for future generations.

We’ve taken some steps of our own- working with a ZDHC Level 3 certified factory for our denim pieces & using washing processes that use 40% less water than standard denim washes. We’ve also completely eradicated plastic from our packaging. However, we wanted to team up with an organisation that are out there on home soil & in the oceans, actively making a difference.

We’d known about Surfers Against Sewage for a while- drawn in by their rebellious activist roots & punk attitude towards cleaning up the UK coastline. SAS & P&Co undoubtedly share a sense of boldness and a need for freedom- and we immediately felt the connection.

It’s important to us to maintain elements of the small start-up energy that created P&Co. We still get excited over every single new product, we get our hands dirty & we put the same amount of effort into each new project as we did 11 years ago. We felt this exact same energy from SAS, straight out of our initial conversation.

‘There size means they can stay responsive, independent and agile. It means they can be truthful and open; reporting on the issues and evidence from the frontline without compromise.

Their team may be compact, but their reach and influence flows far wider.'

P&Co x Surfers Against Sewage

The process of choosing our charity partners wasn’t an easy, or short one. However, as much as we needed each organisation to resonate with our brand, they also needed P&Co to resonate with theirs.

Before agreeing to a partnership, Surfers Against Sewage wanted to know the ins & outs of P&Co as a business- including manufacturer details, production processes & our plans towards becoming a more sustainable brand. For us, this was a huge green flag.

It was clear to see their genuine desire to make a change, and once we’d passed the initial checks, an enthusiasm to educate and get us involved.

The Million Mile Clean

Later this month we will be taking part in the Surfers Against Sewage Million Mile Clean. Born from an idea back in 2021, the Million Mile Clean runs every year and mobilises 1 million volunteers to clean over 10 million miles of UK landscape.

It is the biggest initiave of its kind bringing Ocean Activists together to tackle plastic pollution head on.

You can join one of their bigger community events or do your own private clean- whether that covers your local coastline, canal paths or city streets. We will be heading up north to Thurstaston beach, Wirral with the full P&Co team with our litter pickers in hand! Check back in to see the feature!
